I had the same issue regarding the update error (0x80070643), and managed to get the issue fixed by following these steps from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5028997-instructions-to-manually-resize-your-partition-to-install-the-winre-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf

JohanLeo I tried nonstop to increase the partition, but it still fails. Unsure why - but I think it's the ORDER (place) in which the WinRE partition lives.
The instructions do not work for all.
I'm worried if I do any more, I'll damage my drive map/boot record.
- the_henrikeMay 05, 2024Copper ContributorHi everyone.
I am having exactly the same issue than You.
The positions are different for me on the first disk.
Partition 1 is Recovery and partition 2 is system and Partition 3 is the rest of the disk. I am able to touch only the 3rd one to make free space, but when I follow the guidelines to increase the partition size, I am not able to create a new partition that inclue the new available space, as they are not next to each other, as I understand.
I am now in May and the problem is still here. Does anyone is still having the same issue than me ?
(sorry for my crappy English, I am coming from France and I am fare to be billingual) - Reza_AmeriJan 29, 2024Silver ContributorMake sure report this issue using the Feedback Hub app.
Did you followed the steps in the article one by one?- lindros99Feb 03, 2024Brass ContributorYes, I "followed the steps in the article one by one."
Regardless, using simple math, 558 is greater than 522. This is messed up.
The "solution" is very narrowly focused, and as you can see - I previously had TWO WinRe partitions - now I have one, with 500MB unallocated.
- Reza_AmeriJan 23, 2024Silver ContributorYes, this is a workaround but there is a risk of data lost if there is a mistake , so it is recommended to backup data before following this method. In addition, Microsoft is working on a fix and hopefully there would be easier solution in the future.
