Migrated videos don't play 0xC00D36C4

Help

I migrated 3 x user video containers on 2/13/24.  It looked like it worked there were no errors in the MigrationLog.csv. The migrated videos are stored in users OneDrive's in a folder named 'Stream Migrated Videos'.

The videos don't play.  In OneDrive using Edge when I click the video it looks like it is going to play but the spinner on the black screen just spins and spins. There is a white dashed line around the video which I haven't seen before.

When I download the video to my file system and try to play the .mp4 file with Windows Media Player I get a 0xC00D36C4 error (attached).

I tried to remigrate one of the user containers but this time the migration shows an error.  I can't download the log though so I don't have any more details.

I ran the Stream Classic Inventory script and it displays a destination path indicated the video was migrated. This report doesn't show any errors either.

I haven't found any Microsoft documentation on this problem and how to fix it.

I would appreciate suggestions or advice on how to address this.

Thanks - Greg

Paul_Edison-Swift - It turns out the roll-back was unnecessary in my case.  I deleted the migrated non playing videos in the destination locations and re-migrated.  I was fortunate that it was a small migration test so this was not a lot of work. I have been keeping my eye on the Service Health status in the Admin Center anyway. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your note GFPicologic. Luckily, I did a test run with just IT staff on that fateful day. I was able to get them to delete the corrupted videos and they all play fine after I re-ran the migration. Hoping that everything goes smoothly now with the rest of the users in our org. Thanks again.

Because of you all! - It is easy to forget or lose sight of the importance of our Tech Community. This morning I noticed a Service Health Incident in my tenant. There wasn't service health incident reported before you all chimed in and reported having the same experience that I was experiencing. It may have also helped that a number of us opened tickets with Microsoft. Thank you for replying to my post and reporting the same experience. It was also helpful hear about your experience with the migration tool and also about your experience uploading destination paths.

Indeed... I just noticed the service health incident as well... It just took 1 week for it to be reported. All of this because of a wrong feature update apparently.

We are also experiencing this problem - I have a ticket raised with MS and am awaiting their response

      Hi everyone,
The migrations which were carried out last week suffered from an issue due to which the migrated videos are currently not playable. The issue was fixed on Friday (16th Feb) and you should not see this issue occurring for new migrations.

For the impacted migrations where the videos are currently not playable, we are checking internally for a retrospective fix and will share more details very soon.

Hi! Thanks for this. However the vidoes are not migrating now. Gettign this error: The migration job is not summitted or has not finished uploading the package.
The folders are created but the vidoes are failing to copy to SharePoint.

I am also having the same issue.  No errors, everything completes succesfully, and zero videos play.

I can download them and open them in VLC player just fine.  I can also convert them in VLC player, while this is "working" it borks the first 7 seconds of each video, then plays fine.

    This is extremely frustrating.

The same thing happened at our company. Migrated a few outstanding channels from Stream Classic to SharePoint Online on 2/14 and 2/15. The videos won't play. I created a support ticket with Microsoft.
My worry is, if you recall, February 15 was the original date that Stream Classic was supposed to shut down unless we extended it (who didn't extend it?). Maybe something in the system didn't get the memo...

GFPicologic I just had the same issue. When i try to download, the videos are corrupt.

I've never had an issue with migrating videos before.

Thanks Keri_123 - Because your post along with the other replies, I am hopeful that this temporary issue will be resolved soon. I don't want to do any more migrations until it is. It would be super helpful if Microsoft acknowledged this problem and provided us with an update on the issue and an estimate on when it will be fixed. There is nothing in my tenant's Service health page indicating there is a problem.

This isn't the first time the Migration tool has broken in the last few months. Perhaps Microsoft will extend the end date due to the instability of their solution?

I contacted support and they are going to restore my videos in Stream Classic so I will try again. You have to fill out a request form. I appreciate all your responses. I migrated a couple of videos in December without issue so I am hopeful that this is temporary. I am planning on migrating about 2000 videos so it would be great to get an acknowledgement from Microsoft and some communications on this problem.

I placed a support case with Microsoft on 2/19 and got a response fairly quickly. Of course, they asked for screenshots, and fiddler traces, as part of the normal troubleshooting, just to point me back to check Service health for updates on this reported issue. I still have not received any resolution on the corrupted migrated videos, but at least the newly migrated videos are working now. We have over 10k videos to migrate so I'm being cautious and taking a more strategic approach in case there's still an underlying issue no one has discovered yet.

KatBedocs I'm having the exact same issue !

No migration error logs at all... videos are perfectly migrated !

When I download the migrated video it's running perfectly well...

And all my previously migrated videos are still working well... only my batch of this week is impacted.

Ah, maybe if I try next week, the videos would play? I've logged a call with Microsoft anyway. I'll post here if there is a fix.

We converted 111 containers with 637 video files for a total of 169 GB to Stream (on SharePoint) with the migration tool on February 15. None of the video works and gives the same problem as you guys.

Meanwhile, has anyone got hold of a support agent and found a possible solution?

When you download the files and open them in another media player (VLC) the videos do play. VLC can handle corrupt video files.

    Thanks, Greg, for posting this.
I'm experiencing the same. I just started the migration process and used the migration tool to migrate a few videos, starting with my own. The migration completed successfully and didn't flag any errors or failures. However, when I try to play the migrated video, it opens in a new browser window but just keeps spinning and never loads or plays.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

I have the same problem as you, I just migrated 100gb of videos and none of them are displayed.

I appreciate your reply Mollie. I can't imagine we are the only ones. When I tried to remigrate the videos that don't play, the migration errored out. I opened a support request but I haven't been able to connect with the agent.
