Am I the only person to experience this?

Hi,
Go to File | Options | Trust Center and click Trust Center Settings... Select the Privacy Options tab and make sure that the box for "Remove personal information from file properties on save" is not checked.
Let me know if that worked for you.

This didn't work as the Trust centre settings are managed by admin, and on the admin side, there is no such setting (that I can find). Document Properties shouldn't be considered Personal Information any way as it's quite literally the documents information

I may have found the why and possibly how to fix.
My issue specifically was the Document Property Quick Part was loading partial values from a SharePoint List in the document, however the SharePoint Properties window showed all options.I went into the Developer menu and looked at my Quick Parts that were having the issue - the list of options was either missing or only had a portion of the items. Weird.
So, I went into the template used for the content type - and behold, the Quick Parts within the template were missing choices just as my document was. The difference here is that the SharePoint Properties window is taking quite a long time to load. As I write this comment it is still showing "Loading" - I suspect that my list has a lot of data, and it may have only partially loaded when I had created the template file.
So, to bring the point back around, I suspect that Lookup fields with many options (or all Lookup fields) do not have a "live" link but only update in the content type template upon creation.

KarlInOz1 Are you downloading the document locally on your system OR you are opening online document using browser/office app?

I have just come across this issue too. Ours is a shared file on SharePoint that we Edit on Desktop. Only when someone else has edited on their desktop app, none of the document properties update.
Also found a similar thread (and in the comments above) that said to update a trust centre security setting called "Remove personal information from file properties on save" as a possible solution.
This is not an option for those on a managed SharePoint, there is no such setting available & instead it says the trust centre security settings are "managed by the admin". But when looking through the admin portal, I still can't find such setting.
If anyone can find a solution to this, it'd be a great help to save admin time on documentation and would also ensure consistency.- MaxizariusFeb 04, 2025Copper Contributor
AthenaG-SAP, I have found the same issue with MS Word and SharePoint. What I have found is that SharePoint has created a second list of document properties that mirror my SharePoint list columns. The custom properties that I created are still found by going to info ->Advanced Properties -> and then scroll down to the Property Name and then I can modify the value. The second set of properties is found by going to Info -> "Show All Properties" at the bottom of the properties list. This will expand the list from the default properties (Size, Pages , Words, etc.) and I can see a list of properties that match my SharePoint column names.
I can change the "Show All Properties" values in word or SharePoint and the other will show the change. I am trying to find where these values are held so I can update them via VBA. Any suggestions?
