WinX - Pin current SP location to Quick Access -
We're using 1K+ SP site collections. Due to poor bandwith our remote locations are experiencing slow response when navigating through SP site collections while using a browser. As an alternative we promoted the usage of 'Open With Explorer' and instructed them to 'Add current location to Favorites'. As all are sites are created using a provisioning mechanism the Document Libraries all have the same name. To distinguish the dozen of 'Favorite links' we advised them to rename the Links. This was all working fine in Win7. Now we're upgrading to WinX and encounter the issue that it's not possible to rename a folder/link pinned to the Quick Access list in without renaming the folder (document library) itself. This is posing a challenge for us with respect to setting up SharePoint libraries as "favorites," like we had in Win7.
Adding a shortcut instead of a direct link is not an option as it doesn't show a list of files in the library, it's literally a shortcut to the library.
Has anybody discovered a workaround or alternative for the old way of working?

IMHO a decent WAN/Internet connection is the only real way to improve the experience. Alternative is to encourage more use of the online apps however they are feature light and might not meet customer needs.
For those that can we are also encouraging users to sync SharePoint Libraries, this is bandwidth hungry for the sync but once done they have a permanent 'shortcut' and the Sync tool will only sync changes, which should be relatively light. It will provide the breadcrumb meaning that users can see which site the library is in, therefore even if the libraries are all named the same the end user is able to differentiate.
