Using InfoPath Forms in Sharepoint Online Non-Modern Sites

From everything I can find, this should work as there is still a Form Library and settings for InfoPath, but unfortunately it's not working.

1.  My Infopath SP Admin Centre settings are attached (ie both checked).

2.  I have a test form created in InfoPath 2013 as "Infopath web browser form template" type.  I know there are alternatives to InfoPath but his application is owned, and is SO simple to create fillable forms with.

3.  Created Forms Library on our main Team Site (this isn't a modern site).

4.  Added test form to it.

5.  Click to open it and get the error:

This form cannot be opened in a Web browser. To open this form, use Microsoft InfoPath.
Click Close to exit this message.

Everything I've googled says to check the options that we already have checked.

Microsoft Forms is very confusing as it's not for creating forms.  We need to create fillable forms that can be easily filled in and that data emailed.  InfoPath does this so well.

Can I still use these in SharePoint Online?

Make sure library settings --> Advanced settings --> Opening Documents in the Browser is set to "Open in the client application"

  • Unless the need is called for Advanced formatting, theme's etc. on the forms, I suggest using out of the box SharePoint custom list, using the SharePoint forms. You can have those do about anything you want with the data provided by flow. to send e-mail, etc. etc.

Have you looked at just using the built in SharePoint list forms?
