Unique level permissions at list level

Hi SharePoint Users,

I have a list in SharePoint site collection that i need to give unique permissions to. I want to give permissions via SharePoint groups rather than giving access to users directly. In order to do that, I would need to create SP user group at site level and then break the inheritance at list level and include only that group.

The problem is that when i create the Read group at site level, the users inside would be able to go through all the contents in the site. Is their a way I can avoid this.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

  • You can create a Group without assigning a permission level and then when using in the list, you can add a permission on that list so the users belonging to the group will only access to that list

      Hi jcgonzalezmartin ,

      Thanks for the reply.

Well, I created a group at site level with out mentioning the permissions. Then, when i go to the specific list permissions, I don't see the group for me add in.

Should i create the group first with Read permission then add in the group at List level. Later, may be i could remove the Read permissions from the Site level?

      Regards,

      Kevin

      Thanks for responding.

The link is not in a list, it's a link in a table.  I created the table from the table link.
