Title column renamed for every Lists / Libraries on the tenant
Thanks for the pointers!
Here is what I notice :
- On Every newly created Site Collection (=linked with O365 group)
- Site Settings > Site Content Types, I have
- Artefact CT Group containing
- Artefact CT with Item as parent
- Artefact CT has Title column renamed Artefact ID
- Title column has Item as source
- Item source has Title renamed to Artefact ID as well
- There is no option to delete the Artefact CT
- Artefact CT with Item as parent
- Artefact CT Group containing
- Site Settings > Site Content Types, I have
- On the ContentTypeHub Site Collection
- Site Settings > Site Content Types, I have:
- No Artefact CT Group nor Artefact CT µ
- Site Settings > Site Content Types, I have:
- BUT if I go to any Site Collection on my tenant and check https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/mysitecollection/_layouts/15/contenttypesyndicationhubs.aspx
- I see:
- Subscribed Content Type:
- Item
- Artefact CT
- Subscribed Content Type:
Which leads me to think that at some point the CTH has been configured to broadcast Artefact CT to all Site Collections but since then that configuration was removed.
And probably the modification was made at the Item level since both Lists & Document Libraries have the issue.
So 2 questions arise:
- How can I revert the situation for existing Site Collections?
- How can I make sure future Site Collections will have the default settings (Item + Title column)
I think the problematic is quite close to the one developed in this post:

Thanks for your help,
Site Settings > Site Content Types, I have

- Artefact CT has Title column renamed Artefact ID
- Title column has Item as source
- Item source has Title renamed to Artefact ID as well

The last one is what I would change. The 'Item' Site Column is in the Item Content Type which is the basis for all lists and document libraries.
To make sure I knew where I was, I'd walk through the structure again. Where you see the title column in your Artefact CT and it has Item as the source, click on 'Item' and it will bring you to the Item Site Content Type (parent is system). That's where Title should be Title. Click on 'title', and you'll see a link to 'edit site column' - click that and change the name back to 'Title'.
And just as a note, by default this site column is supposed to be in group _Hidden so it doesn't show up anywhere.
I'd try it on your smallest, least impactful site collection :)
How to do that over all your site collections, not sure, if the syndication is off.

Hello All,
Thanks for your inputs it helped us identify the issue and along with MS Support Engineers we managed to fix it.
It was actually that a Custom Content Type had been created on the ContentTypeHub site. We just updated the CTH then republished.
For the CT that was not listed in the CTH, we checked the CT ID on one of the subscribing site and used PnP-PowerShell to restore it on the CTH, then republish it, unpublish it and delete it properly.
(It turned out it had been deleted before unpublishing).
