Templates in SharePoint that autopopulate colums in Library
Good morning,
I'm trying to arrange for a customer to have 1 site with all templates, and that these templates could be used to autopopulate metada in the library they are added in.
Example, you open a word template in a library, one of the fields in the template is student name, class, and course. When you add this, the colums in the library is populated with the same information.
I have heard that this can be done with the use of PowerApps too, but havent found a good guide to help me through it.
This customer has 3 different sites and wish to use the same templates on these sites. They have also most of the same information, the student names vary, and the class.
Can anyone help?
I can use PowerShell, PowerApps and Flow if its required.
Im going google blind...
- Do you want to achieve this with Office Online or with Office Desktop? With Office Online there is not a builtin feature that provide this. With Office Desktop you can view metadada in the Office document so the user can complete them and when the file is saved, metadata is also saved
- AasneCopper ContributorDesktop office, the things is that we want the metadata in the document it self.
Like when it is about one student, the name need to be in the document as well as the metadata. Intried quickparts, but then we have to have templates on all 3 sites and not just one site that can be used by the other 3.
It it suppose to be easy for them to update templates and write the different templates.
