sync sharepoint DL to a server

Hi team, we are needing to sync our online sharepoint DL to a on-prem server, the current method we found is bit of a hack, so hoping someone else has found a better way.

We sync sharepoint DL to a drive path, then save our files in explorer to that path.

example, our application can only save files to a drive letter,

which is configured like "D:\Company files"

"Company Files" folder is what is synced with sharepoint DL using onedrive, so when we save a file using explorer in "Company files", it syncs in sharepoint DL,

The issue we have with this, is that it requires the user account to remain logged in in order to keep the sync active.

is there a way to run sharepoint sync as a system service etc, that doesnt require an active logged in account?. If not how have others been able to get around this.
