SPO Views - Filter Pane - How it is working?

Thanks Schouten. I have configured the Meta Data Navigation since the Filter Pane doesn't show up for certain views. We are using Modern Experience only. The filter pane always doesn't show up.

Ok great you are using the Modern Experience! Can you ensure the columns you filter on are indexed?

 

Miceile Barrett as program manager on the Filter pane. Can you shine a light on this?

    Thanks Schouten. The filter I am using is on the "Name" column and this is not available for indexing. 

    I have another Document library with 7000 items and there the view works perfectly and the filter shows me the older dates (with check boxes) to select even though the warning message appears (that list has more than 5000 items)

     

    Looking at those two document libraries, they all appear same.

      IMHO filtering on a non indexed column with large lists is not going to work. Maybe the 7000 items library is just small enough and not causing a problem at this time, but I could imagine it will eventually as it grows.

      So I would suggest to try and find another way to filter your view based on an indexed column.
