Site Search Showing News & Results from other site collections

Update on this, the following steps were taken to fix the issue:
- Reindex site
- Reindex affected library
- Check site and site collection result sources via settings, make sure default is set to Local SharePoint Results
In this case, somehow the site-level result source default was set to Documents, which explains why results across different site collections were showing. Still plenty of other odd behavior that wasn't quite explained (like News showing from other sites... it was always the same News items over the course of a week), but following these steps got things working as expected.
Yep, seems to be a bug since the search box in any modern SPO site cannot be customized (at the moment) in any way, so the initial scope as you well mention is the site and then you can always expand your serch so something si wrong with that particular site collection
Thank you for the verification, I didn't think there was a way to modify the modern search experience but good to check. Off to file a PSS case... will post back here if I learn anything interesting.
