Perfect!  That took care of the issue.

 

It was enabled by default when the site was created.  Disabling it permits sharing a folder.  Thank you!

    Sorry for the late reply.

    I can confirm that the "Limited-access user permission lockdown mode" feature should be disabled for it to work.  Stephen worked this out. Thanks again.
