Sharing a Folder Externally from a SharePoint Site
Hi Daniel,
Check to see if the site collection feature 'Limited-access user permission lockdown mode' is activated. This feature is automaticall activated when the site collection feature 'SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure' is activated. See if deactivating this feature will solve the problem. I am assuming people are following a link directly to the folder and they see no content.
I hope this helps,
Greg
Gregory Frick, thanks for that. It seems to be that when I deactivate the 'Limited-access user permission lockdown mode' I can access the folder without the need to grant the user access to the entire site.
StephenRice and Salvatore Biscari is this what should be expected?

Deleted - That feature was created to help make publishing sites more secure. It is designed to prevent browsing through file directories and looking at system pages (e.g. Site Contents - if a user has rights to read a site, they still couldn't load the site contents page). Feel free to like my answer :-)

Deleted, I'm not super familiar with that feature. I'll run it by the right owners and confirm it's working correctly (I'm guessing it is). Do you know how this feature got enabled for that site by chance? Thanks!

The feature is activated automatically when the SharePoint Publishing Infrastructure is activated.
