SharePoint Online ULS logs

Hello Everyone,

I was trying to get the SPO ULS logs using PowerShell script. But, I am not getting any results using this PS script approach. I have followed this approach -

https://github.com/CompartiMOSS/SharePoint-PowerShell/blob/master/Office%20365/PS_Get_SPO_Logs.ps1

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/sharepoint-online/get-spotenantlogentry?view=sharepoint-ps

I see some other blogs telling this is not possible at this moment

https://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/190164/sharepoint-online-uls-log/190165

Can anyone help me in this regard - Is it possible to fetch SPO ULS logs.

Thanks & Regards,

Bhanu

  • Unfortunately, and I'm the author of the Script you mention, while it's true you have the cmdlets / API to apparently get ULS logs for SPO, you are not going to get any data.

Thanks jcgonzalezmartin for your quick clarification.

But, I feel that this is very much necessary for the development team for looking into the details for any issues. And reaching out to MS support team may not work all the times. I feel Microsoft should provide some option in the SP Admin to input the correlation ID and then retrieve the respective logs. They should also maintain the tenant name as part of the ULS logs metadata to filter out if any details of other tenant. This is most important need.

      Thanks & Regards,

      Bhanu

        Yep,
Totally agree, but until now Microsoft has not provide a valid solution / approach to get this information for a SPO tenant
  • Bhanu...you're best option is to submit at ticket and the support engineers can help you with any issues you're experiencing.
