SharePoint Online BPOS URLs are offline and renamed.
I got a call from a customer today. There SharePoint links where returning a 404.
After some tests I found the tenantname-2.sharepoint.emea.microsoftonline.com didn't exist anymore.
Then I checked our own tenant (which is also a BPOS tenant created in 2008) and noticed our old SharePoint Site collections had been renamed.
So, since today the original SharePoint Online URLS (from the BPOS timeframe) seem to be been killed.
They have been changed from:
https://tenantname-2.sharepoint.emea.microsoftonline.com (tenantname-X.sharepoint.emea.microsoftonline.com)
to
https://tenantname-portal2.sharepoint.com
(https://tenantname-portalX.sharepoint.com)
Did anybody see a notification about this?

We are also a BPOS tenant that had the renaming done. Ours was back in 2015. I'm currently in the process of moving all of my site collections off the BPOS url's though and into new site collections with the new domain.
Do you also have 2 domains now when you create a site using the classic interface?
Yes, we (and one of our customers) indeed have 2 types of urs we can pick from.
