SharePoint Office 365 Licenses (E1 vs E3)
Hi all,
We are currently using E1 license, and as enhancement to consume external database via BCS, we are considering to use E3 license.
My question here is: if we upgrade 1 user license from E1 to E3 mainly for configuring BCS connection, would the remaining end users (currently on E1) need to be upgraded to E3?
Or is it the case whereby the end users can remain on E1 and consume the external data via BCS?

BCS use and access does not depend on the license type you have for your users so you don't need to upgrade from E1 to E3 in orider to be able to use it.Hi Juan,

Does that mean we only need E3 license mainly to configure BCS?
The reason I asked is that according to the link below, E3 license seems to be required for BCS.

Apparently I was wrong and an E3 subscription is required to use BCS something that by the way I cannot understand...I can only think that BCS is considered a SPO P2 feature and that's why E3 is required. Sorry for the misundertanding.
