Sharepoint edit all form as default form

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to change the default sharepoint form to the built in 'edit all' form?

Or should I built an PowerApps form to achieve this?

Thanks for your responses!

  • Simon1605 Yes, you will have to customize the SharePoint list form using Power Apps to always open the list form in "edit" mode instead of "view" mode as SharePoint modern default functionalities might not support such requirements.

Check: Customize a Microsoft Lists or SharePoint form by using Power Apps

To change the default SharePoint form to the 'Edit All' form, you have a few strategies depending on your SharePoint environment and the level of customization you need.

If your aim is to make the editing experience the default interaction for users, SharePoint's built-in capabilities might not directly support setting the 'Edit All' as the default form out-of-the-box. However, for a more tailored approach and especially in SharePoint Online, creating a custom form with PowerApps is a recommended solution. PowerApps allows for the design of forms that can closely match your requirements. By customizing a form in PowerApps, you can effectively create an 'Edit All' experience and set this form as the default for new, edit, and display actions in your list. This process involves selecting "Customize forms" from the PowerApps menu within your SharePoint list, which then leads to PowerApps Studio for form design and customization. Once published, your PowerApps form becomes the new default, offering a more flexible and user-centric approach to managing list interactions.

For environments where direct modification or custom development is preferred, such as SharePoint On-Premises, tools like SharePoint Designer were traditionally used, but this may not align with modern SharePoint Online experiences. Alternatively, adjusting user access patterns by providing direct links to the Edit form or adjusting list settings to favor editable views might serve as interim solutions. Yet, for achieving a seamless 'Edit All' default form experience, leveraging PowerApps stands out for its adaptability and integration with SharePoint Online, ensuring a modern and efficient user interaction model.
