Sharepoint Document Library folder Recovery
I have searched and searched to see what the best method is for this. We are currently designing an Office 365 plan for our clients (we're an MSP) and are testing different scenarios with using Sharepoint Document Libraries as file/document replacements.
Individual file versioning and recovery is easy, so that's covered. What are you meant to do though in situations where:
a) Cryptolocker encrypts 10,000 files in a folder
b) Someone renames 500 files in a folder
c) An entire folder or numerous files corrupt
I don't fancy going through 10k files and restoring individually. I know there is functionality coming shortly to roll back entire Document Libraries, but as I understand it there is no defined period for when you will be able to roll back to and the recovery points appear random.
Am I missing a good method for restoring a folder of files in a document library back to a previous time/version(s)?
- Deleted
I know there are a lot of tools that make it possible to create a backup of all your files. Like Avepoint Backup but there are more. I would suggest to take a look at them there.

I'm sure you can understand though when I am looking at implementing a new product (Like SharePoint Online) it looks terrible on said service that I have to go away to look at third party products to do something simple like restore multiple files?
- SharePoint Files Restore will be rolling out in the near future. It's similar to OneDrive's where you can roll back a site to a point in time. This is good for a disaster if it's picked up on quickly, but overtime if something happens and you need to restore then you can't because you would roll back valid changes to other files.
My scenario this is fine, and worse comes to worse we can still get the files back via recycle bin or Retention Policy library. But if you want maximum and easy file recover-ability then 3rd party is the way to go.
