Sharepoint Document Library Error when drag / drop files populating column data
When I drag and drop a document into my Sharepoint Document library, my column data automatically populates with random information from another document in the library.
My defaults are not set to be blank. I have to "edit in grid view" to remove the data. This doesn't make any sense. How can I stop this from happening?
The below fields will populate. Some of the data fields are selection and lookup columns.

- Paul de JongIron ContributorLooks like property promotion is causing this (as ganeshsanap suggested).
This will mainly affect Office files.
Avoiding this is tricky:
- use different columns names in the other library
- clear the Office properties prior to uploading (manually for each file)
- manually change the values afterwards (or use Power Automate to clear the values) - jhammonsCopper Contributor

jhammons Check if your documents have file properties associated with them which are populating column data in SharePoint library.
Open your excel file > click on File menu at the top left corner > select Info > check Properties section at the right hand side.
