Sharepoint - No download option

Hi Everyone,

Greetings to all,

I have a new requirement for a SharePoint site where the download option should be completely disabled. This means that no users, including Site owners, Site members, and Site visitors, should be able to see or use the download option. Is this possible? Please help me with this. Or else
Is there a way to restrict downloads so that only Site Owners can download files, while others can still edit, view, add, and delete files?

Thanks & Regards

    Hey Unknown_123,

I do not think that there is a setting that allows you to disable this, but you could achieve something similar with purview sensitivity labels.
Use access control and encryption of files to block all offline access.

This would allow you to still use desktop apps. Blocking all downloads completely, would force all your end users to use the web app versions of office since the open in app function performs a download.

Just my 2 cents, but I think someone else will probably have a better solution to do what you expect.

    Kind regards,

    MVN
