Set lower permissions in a doc. library than remainder of site
I have a site used by a group and they have the Member level permissions for the site. There is one document library that receives files through an Automate Rule from another site. The files copy copied whenever created or modified. That all works great.
BUT they should have READ-ONLY access to that destination library. I am trying to set a lower level for that one library, so they can view & read the files but not make changes. I went to the Library settings and to the "Permissions for this document library." I broke with the parent permissions and the button "Delete unique permissions" appears as expected. I don't see a way to set different (lower) permissions for this library than the other parts of the site. Can I? If so, how?
Thank you.

- Go to the Library Settings
- In the destination library, click Settings > Library settings > Permissions for this document library.
- You’ve already broken inheritance, so this library now has unique permissions.
- Remove the Site Members Group
- You’ll see the Site Members group listed with “Edit” rights.
- Select that group > click Edit User Permissions.
- Assign them the Read permission level.
- Now they can view and read files in this library but cannot upload, edit, or delete.
- Verify Permissions
- Use the Check Permissions option (top ribbon) to confirm that a test user in the Members group only has Read access in this library.
- Everywhere else in the site, they’ll still have their normal Edit rights.
