vkartik Tracy510 - Thank you for surfacing this issue. I recently observed the same behavior in SharePoint Online as well.
The user who reported the issue to me indicated that he did not attempt to modify the 'Sensitivity' property when tagging a PDF document he uploaded, and despite the property not being required he was met with the message seen below. He was unable to save his changes and as a result none of the tagging he applied to the document was saved.
Have either of you heard anything from Microsoft on this?
- vkartikJul 07, 2023Copper ContributorStill I am looking for solution for this , our users are also facing this issue
- Tracy510Aug 08, 2023Copper ContributorWe received a response from Microsoft, and they said that they checked with the team and were informed that it was a new update with policy (a label policy that is created at tenant level and has existed since May 2021) so that the warning messages are updated on pdf documents. We requested the documentation on this to understand when this update was rolled out, and we pointed out we only started facing this issue in May 2023.
They have also confirmed there’s no way to get rid of that warning message.
Microsoft response:
“I have checked with the technical team, and we do not any article as of now.
There doesn’t seem to be a publicly available Microsoft article on this, but this is a by-design behavior in the current version of the product. Pdf files isn’t a supported file type, and the message indicates the same to the users.
The technical team will raise feedback with the internal team to look into updating public documentation around this message. “
Hence, Microsoft is saying an update from MS to the below policy is causing that message to appear on PDF documents.
Note: The below policy has existed since May 2021.- Tracy510Aug 08, 2023Copper ContributorWe have since gone back to them and advised this is actually causing a user to think that there changes are not saved as we are finding when you enter the metadata and you get the message the side panel doesnt close like it does if you dont get the message.
We cant replicate this all the time so our next step is to do a recording when this happens so we can share with them.
