Select source for the new News app in communication site

Hi,

I am setting up a communication site and I want to use the News app to show information through the site. 

In the root site I have the News app with some entries. Then in a subsite I added the News app but I can't choose the source, I want to use the same source as the root site. Whe I go to edit mode I only see the layout setup of the app but not a way to choose the source. 

I saw in https://support.office.com/en-us/article/use-the-news-web-part-on-a-sharepoint-page-c2dcee50-f5d7-434b-8cb9-a7feefd9f165 that it should be a setting for the source, but in my case there is not.

Is that an option in testing or do I need to setup something?

    I haven’t seen it but it looks amazing :). This full filter needs added to highlighted content web part too ;).

    Most likely it’ll come at a later date.

      I think so. I have  in my test environment targeted realizes activated and there is no way to choose source there either. 

      Is there a way to publish news in the root site and show it in a subsite?

        But subsite im assuming you mean connected hub site.

        Anyway highlighted content webpart can pull need from all sites into s webpart. You can get fancy with properties to filter it down to what you need but if they added that same extra select site filter then it would solve that issue.
