Seeking SharePoint knowledge - Overwriting pdf but keep the old custom meta data from the old file.
I have a user that claims that the situation has changed when overwriting a pdf file in a library.
The situation is the following: A library with pdf files and custom managed meta data properties on a file. When overwriting the existing file the user expect that the new file adopts the managed meta data values from the old file.
My own brain processes this as that not possible because you overwrite a existing file with no managed meta data. But i could be wrong.
What do the SharePoint pro's think?

We have several processes that base on the assumption that file upload with already existing identical filename will create a new version of that file, and keeping the already maintained meta data.
I can't imagine some process where deleting the existing metadata might be obliged, cos if the file is from outside SPO it never will have such metadata.But I'm not a pro 😉
