Retention Labels that allow documents to be Edited

I am creating Retention Labels but finding that if I use the Retain Forever option or the Retain for x years (e.g. 25) combined with 'Nothing, leave content as is' option, I am not able to Edit documents to which the policy has been applied.

I can Edit the Properties but not the document itself.

I do not have the 'Use label to classify content as a Record option ticked.

My requirement is to retain documents for 25 yrs, do nothing with them at the end of 25 yrs but allow them to be Edited.

Anyone got any suggestions of which combination I should use (do I need to use the Disposition option)?

Thanks

Emma

    Hello,

Once you apply the retention label you can't delete the document until the end of the retention period.

I would recommend using backup instead of Retention in this case. That helps you to keep all the files and changes with all the versions.

Hope this will resolve your issue 🙂

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I am aware that applying retention labels means you cannot Delete a document. The issue I have is that applying the label is also preventing me from Editing the file.

      Thanks
