"Recent Documents" web part in modern experience | filters needed
Hi Moreno Fernandes ! Go to your doc library, search for the FILTER icon in the right top of that document list view. Click on your Filter icon. Select all docx, xlsx, pdf ... files you know. OneNote is listed without any type anymore, so filtering is a bit annoying. But I post 3 screenshots in here to give you a 3 step checklist to do hat what you plan to filter:
1) Filter icon
2) activate filetypes you want to see.
3) The left icon to the filter icon is the default view title, like "All Documents", which has a *, if it was already changed, by filtering it, or sorting it.Because of that you have to save the changed view with a new Name, such as "All but OneNote" for instance. Click on "All Documents" and click on the second last option in this menu to save the changed view.
Hope you find useful.
Greets, Eva.

Hi Eva Vogel , Thanks for your response. The "recent Documents" web part shows the recent documents viewed/modified by me me from various libraries and sites including onedrive. It is not specific to a particular document library.

I was able to achieve this by using the "Highlighted content" web part.
This web part allows to add filters to display documents by Type, modified/created by etc

Hello Moreno Fernandes ! I am sorry, i was to quick to explore it profundly. You are right, the only way to edit the webpart "Recent Documents" in modern pages is only to change the maximum of 6 or so documents, frustrating... If i were you i would wait for that recent document web part to expand the possibilities and they are always improve the options. It is kind of new to me, so in communication sites and in the meantime I would recommend the Document library webpart. Greets, Eva.
