What is the plan for "modern" Document Sets?
So it's been asked many times in the old network and never answered, so want to ask it here in the hopes that people are actually thinking about this. What is the plan for "modern" Document Sets ...
- Feb 12, 2018Its too early to put specifics on the roadmap - but we will update document sets. We are not being "classic Microsoft" here - there is a steady stream of requests for docsets (along with other parts of classic ECM) and I've never pretended otherwise. Fear is not part of the plan. I hope to be able to give roadmap updates at SPC or Ignite this year, if that helps.

We announced the roadmap update at SPC, and for additional coverage I reposted the roadmap at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-SharePoint-Blog/SPC18-Wrapup-Content-Services-Updates-and-Roadmap/ba-p/198815 Our plan is to have modern docsets out by the end of 2018. Later than we all would like, I know (I use them too!) but coming.
I also hope to be able to *show* them at Ignite; and the advantage of being at a conference is it gives us a change to have 1:1 dialog with you and learn how best to understand the real business scenarios we need to address as we continue to revamp our core ECM offerings.

Great to hear a progress update. I won’t be at ignite but if any of your team wants to sense check any aspect of the implementation I’m happy to road test. Having worked with clients with doc sets for 8 years I know many of the ins and outs.
