Preventing contributors from editing a site page

Hi

Every time a user is given contributor levels of access to a SharePoint site they are able to actually edit the page (adding or removing site page content)

I want contributors to actually contribute with read/write access. Why is editing a site page attached to any permission but those who have full control or another unique permission that allows for that?

Is there away around this?
