Permissions inheritance

Greetings,

I've got a SP site (modern) set-up so I can externally share documents/pics with vendors and customers.  Simple structure, top folder name of partner and under that project folders.

When giving access to the top level (SmithCo), they automatically get access to the individual folder below it (proj1, proj2, etc.).  Inheritance is downward by default.

Do I have this correctly?

Use case is senior guy wants access to the company folder but only wants me sharing project folders to specific people who don't need to see other things.

Thanks in advance for thoughts.

Rick

By default SharePoint objects inherits permission from top. In case fine grained permission is required, we can do it either folder or document level. However make sure limited access features are set appropriately to avoid any issues.
