To set up permission groups and control access to specific folders within a SharePoint document library, you'll need appropriate permissions on the site, and you may not necessarily need to be a global administrator. Here are steps you can follow:

1. Access SharePoint Site:

• Log in to your SharePoint site with an account that has at least "Full Control" or "Site Owner" permissions.

2. Navigate to Document Library:

• Go to the document library where you want to set up specific permissions for folders.

3. Manage Access:

• Select the folder for which you want to manage permissions.

4. Open the Ribbon:

• In the toolbar at the top (ribbon), you should find options like "Library Tools" or "Library" (depending on your SharePoint version). Look for an option related to "Library" or "Library Settings."

5. Access Library Settings:

• Inside the Library Settings, look for an option like "Permissions for this document library" or similar.
• If the document library inherits permissions from the parent site, you may need to break inheritance for an specific folder if required. This is done by selecting the folder, going to the "Library" or "Library Tools" tab, and choosing "Library Settings." Then, under "Permissions and Management," select "Permissions for this document library" and click "Stop Inheriting Permissions."

7. Create Permission Groups:

• Inside the folder's permissions, you can create or use existing permission groups. Click on "Grant Permissions" or "Create Group" to add users or groups to the folder's permissions.

8. Assign Permissions:

• Assign appropriate permissions to the users or groups. You can choose from predefined permission levels like "Read," "Contribute," or "Full Control," or you can create custom permission levels.

9. Test Permissions:

• After setting up permissions, test them to ensure that users or groups can access the folder as intended.
