Password protected PDF's
I have a user who uploads password protected PDF's into a folder within a document library and then when they click on the file and enter the password the file doesn't open and they jump back to the top level of the doc library. If the user tries to open the file in the classic experience it works fine? anyone have any ideas?

Out of curiosity, how did you fix the issue?

I had the same issue with our dynamics environment, turns out the issue is hitting the enter key
I found you could type in any password and hit Enter and it would take you to the SharePoint repository, but type the password in and click on open and the file would open, interestingly if you type in the wrong password and click open you will get an incorrect password attempt

I put a service health notice, and they marked it as a non issue.....

Just came across this with a client, confirmed switching to classic view works, but client does not want that.

This just occurs in the SharePoint modern library view in the browser (Edge) it's fine in the classic view in the browser or from synced library

We have the exact same issue! I think this is a niche but unfound service issue. Did you happen to stumble on a fix? We are having several users facing this issue, all reporting it's started 2 weeks ago.

no not yet, just advising to open them in classic view as a workaround for now

It could be due to information Rights Management (IRM) has been applied to this document library. Try accessing the file Azure Information Protection viewer or another application that supports viewing protected PDF files.
