Aug 29, 2018Openening Excel desktop version from link in Outlook
I have activated the 'Open Documents in client application by default' option in site settings. And it works fine when I open the file from my SharePoint library.
However, if I share the file by sending a link to someone, it still opens in Excel Online first, and in read only mode. I need the receiver to be able to open and edit in standard Excel without having to click first Edit in Excel and then Edit Workbook.
How do I do that?

Hi Anne!
As far as i know that is not possible since the sharing emails contains an url to the file and thus it will open in the onlineversion in a browser first (regardless of the settings of the Document Library).
