Office 365 ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams. Announcement: My view on licensing
These days any initiative to make organisations more secure is welcome. So I am pleased to see the announcement of ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams. However, I am disappointed that this benefits only E5 and A5 users without additional licensing.
I understand Microsoft has the right to charge as it sees fit but enterprises, small and large, require protection as standard, Today your only option is to switch to the highest SKUs available or add further per user licenses.
This appears to be a tenant level decision, so I have to assume all users would need to be upgraded to use ATP. wbaer have I understood this correctly?

What happens if we turn on ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams and we only have a selected group of people licensed for ATP? If a file is scanned to be malicious on SharePoint, will only ATP licensed people see that and others won't?

An update to this topic: Microsoft has explained to us that turning on ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams requires all your users to be licensed for ATP.
- John WynneSilver ContributorThank you for your quick reply and clarification of per user licensing.
