Not being able to stop editing of sharepoint document library after user filled column once.

Hi All

I want to stop people editing their entries once they upload the document and fill other fields like name, date etc, So to achieve this i have removed the edit permission of member. But the problem in document library is that right after the upload of document it is not allowing the user to fill the rest of the columns. Is their any solution to this?
