No Properties Panel in Excel?

Is it correct that there is no "Sharepoint Properties Panel" for Excel (like the Word Sharepoint Properties Panel released in 2018) where you have a decent interface for filling in metadata for a file being saved in a document library?

It's hard enough to convince users to attach metadata.  Sending them to the "Info > Properties" page will not be a good result.  I thought I must be missing something?  Can it be years later and the panel only exists in Word?  No third party solutions either?

Please tell me I'm just looking in the wrong place.  I demoed this with doc's, never thinking it wouldn't apply across all of Microsoft 365.

Thanks,

Gregg

  • I don't recall to have seen this panel in Excel either...why not use the Office backstage where you can also fill document properties?

That's the name for the "Info - Properties" page, right? Was looking for something better than that. It's ugly, not user friendly, contains fields that are not part of Sharepoint that I don't want my user confused by, doesn't contain certain field types... As a techie, I could deal with it. But my business users are already wary of the extra effort to put in metadata. They wouldn't bother if they had to use that page. The low usability of backstage is the reason they came up with the Word Sharepoint Properties Panel to begin with.
