News Post Does Not Show
We prematurely posted news on our company's home SharePoint site. (A very simple mistake that you will pay *dearly* for.)
We demoted the promoted state to "0" using this method and republished. This made it disappear from the news feed on the homepage.
When the time came for it to be public, we changed the promoted state back to "2" and republished. But the news post did not reappear. We've tried several times, tried changing the category, and even reindexed the entire site library, but nothing has worked.
Any ideas? Why can't things like publishing, unpublishing back to a draft, deleting, and converting between post and news post be simple like it is in any other CMS I've ever used?
Hello Teddy
you can schedule news post to a specific time, it's also possible to create drafts with standard SharePoint news. You can publish, unpublish back to draft and more.

Thanks for the reply, DaveMehr365.
Two quick points:
- That's helpful going forward, but right now I can't get a news post to show in the feed no matter what I do.
- Second, post scheduling is helpful, but there are times when you simply jump the gun. Even if you schedule it, once it goes live you may need to either delete it or take it down and publish later for various reasons. The internet is littered with people seeking help with these types of issues.
Hello Teddy
at 1) Check the web part configuration to show up the correct informations. And it's possible that the search index has a moment.
at 2) You can unpublish a news post:
Other way is to implement an custom end date and you can exclude it when it is reached. But it's only possible with a little bit customizing.
