New to SP and trying to archive news
I'm new to Sharepoint and trying to take over at my company from the person who set it all up. There is no real structure to the setup so taking a while to figure it out. What's the best way to ...
- Mar 01, 2019Yeah, just did a test, yes/no columns don't show, probably not supported, single line and choice work thou for sure, so may have to do a choice column with Yes/No values for it.

You could move the out of date pages to a folder in the site pages library or you could add a custom column to the sites pages library so you can indicate which news are archived and which ones no
- timparsonsFeb 27, 2019Brass ContributorThanks. The Site Pages section where the news articles are located won't let me add a folder - only a Wiki Page, Web Part Page or Site Page.
How would I add the custom column to indicate which are archived?- Feb 27, 2019Depends is this a hub site with news rolling up or just a single site with news? If it’s a single site then just add a column like any other list or library by clicking on the plus on the view by the column headers and picking say yes/no checkbox or what not. Then on your news webpart set the filter to use that yes no column and filter by no or blank and then when you need to archive mark that column to yes or checked when they need to go away.
You can also go demote it from being news and just make it a regular page as well.
Folders may not be turned on. I “think” it’s in list settings > advanced. Could be general but there is an option to allow folders. Anyway hopefully one of these methods can work.- timparsonsMar 01, 2019Brass Contributor
ChrisWebbTech how do I get the new column to show up in the webpart filter? It's only showing me the Title in the page properties filter.
