New to SP and trying to archive news

I'm new to Sharepoint and trying to take over at my company from the person who set it all up. There is no real structure to the setup so taking a while to figure it out.    What's the best way to ...

    Yeah, just did a test, yes/no columns don't show, probably not supported, single line and choice work thou for sure, so may have to do a choice column with Yes/No values for it.

You just add a column to the Site pages library. All column types might not be supported, but the basics should work. I've testinged text and choice columns. It might take a bit to index as well but make sure you assign a value to one of the pages with the column.

ChrisWebbTech I do not understand how the extra column would work, because the news page would still show up in search, right? I created an archive folder and copied the news page there and then deleted the original post. That seems to work well, with an automated process based on a creation date it would work even better.

    How do you create a new Folder in the Site Pages Library - Powershell? Its not an option out of the box I think?
    I also need a good solution for archiving Pages, but find it really hard to figure out, so your suggestion of creating a Folder and remove this folder from Search Index sounded like a good and practical solution I can teach my users, but I can't create a Folder in teh Site Pages Library... Any more tips or how-to-steps you can share?
