I have faced the same issues. The new UI slowly rolled out across our users, recently they were using Lists within teams as this was still using the full screen mode for editing items, but unfortunately this has also now updated to the new UI.
Previously I had JSON code that did three columns and showed all the information in one view for the users, now they have to do a fair bit of scrolling to view the same information.
Only workarounds that have worked for me so far is to use JSON code to show two columns, turn off commenting on the lists so that the comments window doesnt automatically appear every time you edit an item. (another annoying feature that can't be just disabled from view)
Filters regularly do not load. Majority of our lists are under 5,000 items with views making them much less than this.
Hoepfully improvements will be made.....
