When creating creating public team site, It is observed that everyone is added to the site wit edit permission.
I guess if all users by default have edit permission then they can do anything.
I guess , they should have minimum permission like read only.
Is this by design ?
- It is by design. However you can restrict them further by easily going to the site permissions and tweaking what the default permissions for the group are to read only and the everyone except external users to read. That way anyone can still join the group, but they only have read access to the sharepoint site and files.
