Navigation not showing in Sharepoint app (android)

We made our own custom teamsites in sharepoint online. With the modern experience turned on, the navigation on the left is showing correctly on desktops. When I open teamsites on IOS (iphone), then the navigation is there as well. But when I open teamsites on Android, there is no navigation button shown (normally 3--). I checked under navigation settings and other settings, couldn't find anything that helped. Tested on Android 6 and 9 with latest version of Sharepoint app. A screenshot showing the missing navigation.
