Missing sites under Destinations when I try to move or copy files in modern library

Jan Andreas Knudsen I don't believe there is another way except to "Follow" the site prior to the copy / move operations.

This is one of the most stupid ideas in the history of SharePoint. And now the list is limited to the recent sites and the teams you belong to...
Mega-idiotic.

Hey pdestefanis ,
Ha! Indeed, the interface/process needs finessing - but you must be relatively new to SP.
In "the good ol' days" (2003/7/10/13/16) there simply wasn't any method to copy/move files around - you had to download to your computer and re-upload to the target library. And delete from source if this was a "move" operation. Or use 3rd party (expensive) tools like ShareGate, etc.
SPO is getting better and better, month by month - new features (and implemented features based on feedback from MS's forum) appear all the time (including this feature we are discussing here) - again, in the old days, we had to wait for IT to schedule in Service Packs to fix old and provide new features. Typically resulting in years-behind-the-latest feature set.

- pdestefanisJan 17, 2023Iron ContributorNo man, I'm anything but new to SP. You are comparing something from 20 years ago... well, I would expect more flexibility after two decades of have a **bleep** copy/move experience.
I should not need ShareGate to copy/move files... it's one of the most basic features you can think of, and SPO still can't get it right.- Brett_RussellFeb 23, 2023Copper Contributor
I have read through this thread that goes back to 2019 and still no sensible and intuitive response despite it frustrating many users. Our firm under my watch has expended considerable funds in implementing SharePoint along with Office 365, but is finding basic roadblocks like this which questions our expenditure.
Indeed, the repeated issue like what we have here was a major reason why as CFO my company did not adopt a MS Accounting Package solution recently, instead going for a competitor. As often said you can not be more royal than the king or Catholic than the Pope which means you can not be any better in Administration than the tools you have. So with the accounting aspect I was not prepared to subject our firms employees to such an approach of not having a major issue addressed.
Hopefully MS will understand that companies have many sites and the need to move files and folders between them without having to engage in a raft of work arounds. My job is CFO not IT specialist and our staff are not either, so while it is greatly appreciated the efforts people have put into figuring out workarounds the basic issue is MS has extremely poor response to fixing a serious functionality issue.
