Links in Document Web Parts are downloaded

Yeah it appears this is an issue (?) with the Document Library web part - it treats these links like any other file, so clicking on them commences a download.
It is possible to create a set of links in a list, then use the 'List' web part to display them. clicking thee links opens the target web site as expected.
