Library Modern Experience Roadmap
Is there somewhere where I can see the roadmap (with timescales) for the modern library experience?
In particular, I am waiting for when
- Published Site Navigation support
- Document Set Support
Until a consistent experience is possible across all of our sites and libraries, realistically I need to remain with the classic experience. I'm surely not the only one in this situation.
- John WynneSilver ContributorThe official roadmap is published over on the FastTrack site but I understand what you are asking here is more specific. The nature of delivery of Office 365 means it's unlikely that all features will arrive for SharePoint Online in the short term. However, the Ignite sessions point to Publishing features for H1 2017. Your own drivers might make a hybrid SharePoint 2016 / Office 365 deployment a better bet if broad consistency is needed. Copying Chris McNulty to see if he has any guidance on the availability of the features you need within Online itself.
- My advice is to stay in classic mode until everything is ready....
- Ross McLeanCopper ContributorThanks Juan, I'm in agreement. The change is large enough to warrant a complete rewrite of our documentation and will require a communication plan to deploy. For my sanity, and that of my users, I need a single (consistent) UI across our environment. I can't have it jumping between the new and classic experience depending on an unsupported feature, which are largely meaningless to the end user.
