Library column doesn't appear in edit form

Hi,

I created a content type, then a library based on this content type, then added a lookup column.

In "grid mod" i can modify the lookup column, but not when using the form to create a new item or modify an existing item. For some other libraries it's working well.

I noticed that in the library settings, in the "coluns" section, nothing appears as "used in" for the lookup olumn.

Could you please tell me how to make this colmn to appear in the forms ?

What is this "used in" parameter for the columns ?

Thank you so much !

By following above steps, you are adding list column in content type at "list" level only. It will not be added in "site" level content type.

Hence, if you add the same content type to another libraries, lookup column will not be added to those libraries. Try it once and let me know if it works for you.

  • ogoret If you have create the column at library level, try following these steps:

    1. Go to document library settings page
    2. Select Advanced settings
    3. Set Allow management of content types? to Yes
    4. Click OK at the bottom of page to save the changes to advanced settings. It will show the Content Types section on the library settings page now.
    5. Click on the content type you added to library
    6. Select Add from existing site or list columns from content type page
    7. Select List columns in the drop down, select the lookup column from left side available columns and click Add> button
    8. Click OK button to save the changes

Now go to your document properties form and check if the column appears in the edit form.

      Thank you for your answer,
But, if i am right, your solution is to modify the content type ?
However, as i use this content type in several cases, i can't include this lookup column in the content type. This is because in some cases i want it to point to a library, and in other cases to other libaries.
I could for every case inherit content types from a parent content type, but it's a heavy solution. That's why i did like this.

      Thank you
