Issue opening Excel/Word files in Chrome

Hello everyone, 

Could you please help me in solving and answering below issues? 

1. Word and Excel files from SharePoint 2013 Library opens fine in all browsers except Google Chrome. It gives below error while opening Word document. This issue only occurs  to this specific library.

"Sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft Word."
2. I really don't understand why Chrome is trying to open in browser though we set advanced setting Default open behavior to open in the client application. This is for all library documents in our environment.
