Information Management Labels

Am I to understand IM Labels are deprecated?

My list and content types still has the option to create labels.

I've created a simple test text label such as Ins-Test and no record shows any label with that content but each one should display Ins-Test. (????) Is this IM policy just for show?

      Thanks Magnus.

I guess that's what I meant. That old 'Information Management' setting in lists and libraries with bar codes, labels and retention policies are still there. I didn't know there's a new version through Information Governance. So I guess it's redacted in terms of use even though it still shows, it does nothing.
That's pretty excellent platform management by msft (NOT), not to mention the way to go about doing it 'today' is different than people's videos from 2021 explain it. Moreover it appears you can only have a label, not a label with a GUID.
I should've just stuck using Power Automate to create a unique label for each item instead of attempting yet another trek down yet another rabbit hole.

Thanks for your link Magnus, much appreciated.

Well I found out that Labels using the List/Library Information Management Policies are not redacted. I'm not sure what the MSFT document is all about, as much of their documentation is nothing more than fluff.

This is what I was originally trying to do but for some reason was not working (there was a MSFT service issue documented so perhaps that was it)

I even asked MSFT support, but I wont go into that fiasco here. So this is what I was originally looking for.
