In a PnP search how long does the crawl take
In an Education tenant using SharePoint online if you add a new mapping into the PnP search because the crawled property was unpopulated how long do you have to wait before it is fully populated?
Copilot chat suggested 30 minutes to 48 hours. At 48 hours and it managed to find about 45 items. I was anticipating about 900 items.
10 hours later it is still showing 45 items. How do I know if it finished the crawl or just abandoned it, whether it is actually still going or it can genuinely only find 45 items.
Thank you.

Thank you, much appreciated.
Sadly I've now found that pNp search - you can't force a reindex on it. It isn't a standard library type item - it doesn't even appear as a library. The site reindex had no impact either.
I've now had suggestions that I actually need to get it to pick up the missing data by forcing a change on the missing data even if it is only putting back what is already there before the crawl will pick it up again. It sort of makes sense - why would you keep re-crawling something that is almost static data, hence it only picks up changes. - warwickBrass Contributor
You'll know when you see results - all depends on crawling load on the platform, so up to 48 hours is correct

Changing or adding a property mapping does not re‑crawl existing items. SharePoint Online only re‑indexes items that are new, modified, or manually reindexed at the library or site level.
To force a full refresh:
- Reindex the library:
Library Settings > Advanced Settings > Reindex Document Library. - Reindex the site:
Site Settings > Search and Offline Availability > Reindex Site.
- Reindex the library:
