How to Stop SharePoint Lists from opening in Microsoft Lists?
Hello,
Suddenly my SharePoint lists are opening in Microsoft Lists! Please, does someone know how to stop this? It is confusing everyone! Is it a bug? I found a post that says this is the "new default" behavior for opening SharePoint lists! This simply can't be. Maybe it's a virus? Is anyone else experiencing this? Please help!
Thanks. .
Hi Kathryn Birstein,
By default, SharePoint lists will open in the Microsoft Lists app. According to the SharePoint admin message centre, Site owners can navigate to the Navigation Elements settings page and configure a new setting called “Lists in Sites”, which will enable lists to always open in their associated SharePoint site.
you can try to change this by using classic SharePoint setting, by navigating https://{tenantname}.sharepoint.com/sites/{sitename}/_layouts/15/navoptions.aspx
or going to the SharePoint Site classic settings and changing Navigation elements. Site owners can navigate to the Navigation Elements settings page and configure a new setting called “Lists in Sites”, which will enable lists to always open in their associated SharePoint site.

- Diego_LonghiCopper ContributorI can confirm, our tenant was updated on june.
Now users have 40% of their screen to work with the lists.
We are back to the 2000's UX, I was impressed by how cluttered this became, someone was feeling nostalgic about IE's toolbars.
Now we have the tenant bar, the header, the nav bar, the quick launch bar, the command bar, the lists title/views bigger bar, the fixed column header bar and THEN... you have the list content... and a scrollbar 😄
This is supposing you dont need the zoom 150%, because if you do, you will have the app bar on the bottom and NO CONTENT! I had to teach a coworker who has visual impairment how to hide things using css on devtools so she could work with the lists again.
The disable option mentioned as answer is not available on our sites (possibly it is related to a site feature that was not activated or it was removed)- cujones4Brass Contributor
Diego_Longhi This is absolute madness. 😠 Not being hyperbolic when I say whoever made this call needs to be disciplined for time lost, at the very least moved somewhere they can do less damage.

LeonPavesic : morning, our Business Office demonstrated that their invoice list that is used to calculate the totals to bill specific departments is no longer functioning properly. The list has changed to the new list experience. The issues are such that the copying and pasting of cells, the dragging of a cell anchor to duplicate the contents across a range, and the refusal to select all rows consistently are disruptive to the point where they are losing confidence in the tool and moving back to Excel. I’m meeting with our 365 admin to investigate whether we can force the old style back on to staunch the bleeding, and unaware if this is even possible.

LeonPavesic Hi. I hace the same issue since yesterday, and so far it only happens to me, not anyone else. I have tried your solution but it didn't work out 😞 Any other tip? Thanks in advance.
- AmberSchifferBrass ContributorI am also suddenly having this problem starting last week. The fix mentioned here also did not work for me.
It doesn't seem to be switching to the LISTS environment so much as displaying within SharePoint as it would if opened in LISTS. Biggest problem being that this has caused all my multi-select lookup fields to stop recognizing each entry with unique links. Very frustrating.
- Kathryn BirsteinCopper ContributorOK, found the "Navigation Elements" setting. Any idea what the logic is for lists suddenly opening in Microsoft lists? This is causing CHAOS among my clients and there seems to be absolutely no reason for this change!
