How to consolidate content from different places?

It was a tough one to decide where to post this but here I go.

MS recently released the tenant admin tools to connect existing SharePoint team sites to Office 365 Groups and also the SharePoint migration tool v2 is now GA.

Now deciding where does each of these tools fit with the current end user state is a tough one to answer. I am going to list out a couple of scenario and hopefully looking for some discussion around what's a good practice.

Scenario 1 - End user is using Classic SharePoint, Group created as result of Microsoft Team creation and also a DL.
Ask - How do we consolidate these different platforms to centralize the content with as little disruption as possible.

Scenario 2  End user is using Classic SharePoint, DL but no Group is created.
Ask - Is Groupify the right approach? Or, create a new Group and use the SharePoint Migration tool to move the data from classic SharePoint?

Scenario 1: migrate content to the Teams / group Sharepoint site, what I’ve done with DL is use the outlook group option to “subscribe” everyone to the group. Then use powershell (after deleting the old DL” and manually add the alias to the office 365 group. I can try and look that up it’s been awhile if your interested :).

Scenario 2. Yes definitely groupify. Once geoupified you can then add a Team to the site / group of required.

      Sounds perfect!
Here are my follow up questions:
      - What is the best way to migrate content from classic SharePoint to an existing group SharePoint? Interestingly, there are a few users who just own a sub site not the whole site, thoughts on that as well?
      - Definitely interesting in deleting the DL and adding that as an alias. Question on side note, If we want to continue to 'send on behalf of' the old DL once it is deleted and added as an alias, I guess that won't be possible. So, what is the best thing to do considering the DL is still active?

You can send on behalf from a group, do some google searches for it, shouldn't be hard to pinpoint down, but I know it's possible. Here is Microsoft support article for it: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Allow-members-to-send-as-or-send-on-behalf-of-an-Office-365-Group-Admin-help-0ad41414-0cc6-4b97-90fb-06bec7bcf590

As for sub-sites it's really difficult since the direction for modern is to not use them. So you may have to use migration tool such as Share-gate or Metalogix etc. to move those sites, depending how much customization are there. If it's just documents, you really don't have to use a tool. But the idea is to create Groups for each site, and if you need those sites to be related you can use Hub sites to group them, but keep in mind your limited currently to 50 hubs.
